Biography

Sting, born Steve Borden on March 20, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska, is a legendary figure in the world of professional wrestling. His journey into wrestling began in the mid-1980s after a successful collegiate and amateur wrestling career. Under the guidance of trainer Red Bastien, Sting developed his skills and soon made his debut in the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA).

In 1987, Sting teamed up with Jim Hellwig (later known as The Ultimate Warrior) to form the tag team known as The Blade Runners. This early partnership showcased Sting's raw athleticism and charisma, laying the groundwork for his future success.

Sting's breakout moment came when he joined the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and adopted the persona of "Sting," inspired by his flashy ring attire and energetic demeanor. He quickly became a fan favorite, capturing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and solidifying his status as one of wrestling's biggest stars.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Sting emerged as a cornerstone of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), captivating audiences with his colorful persona and high-flying in-ring style. He engaged in memorable rivalries with the likes of Ric Flair, Vader, Hollywood Hogan, and his most notable feud against the New World Order (nWo), a villainous stable that shook the foundations of WCW.

Sting's alliance with WCW against the nWo, particularly during the "Monday Night Wars" era, became legendary. His "Crow" persona, characterized by dark attire and silent demeanor, symbolized his rebellion against the nWo's dominance.

Sting continued his wrestling career in various promotions, including TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling), where he became a multiple-time champion and further solidified his status as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

In 2014, Sting made his long-awaited debut in WWE, appearing at Survivor Series. He went on to have several high-profile matches in WWE, including a highly anticipated bout against Triple H at WrestleMania 31.

Sting later made a surprise debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in December 2020, making occasional appearances and providing mentorship to younger talent, cementing his status as an influential figure in the industry.

Beyond wrestling, Sting has pursued various endeavors, including acting and philanthropy. His enduring legacy and impact on professional wrestling continue to be felt, as he remains one of the most revered and respected figures in the sport's history.
