William Jason Reso, better known by his ring name Christian, is a Canadian professional wrestler whose career spans several decades. Born on November 30, 1973, in Kitchener, Ontario, Christian grew up with a passion for wrestling, idolizing legends like Hulk Hogan and Ricky Steamboat. His journey into professional wrestling began in earnest when he trained at Sully's Gym under Ron Hutchison, where he met lifelong friend and future tag team partner, Adam Copeland, known as Edge.
Christian made his professional debut in 1995 under the name "Canadian Rage" and quickly established himself on the independent circuit before being signed by WWE in 1998. He debuted as part of The Brood, a gothic trio that included Edge and Gangrel. Christian's career gained significant momentum when he and Edge transitioned into a wildly successful tag team, winning the WWE Tag Team Championships seven times. Their comedic antics and in-ring prowess made them fan favorites, particularly during the Attitude Era.
In 2001, Christian embarked on a singles career, capturing the Intercontinental Championship and establishing himself as a mid-card mainstay. His persona evolved into "Captain Charisma," a self-proclaimed man of the people, which resonated with fans and highlighted his charisma and mic skills. Additionally, he briefly competed under the masked persona "Conquistador Dos" and humorously as a "Male Nurse" in various storylines.
Christian left WWE in 2005 and joined TNA, where he was rechristened as "Christian Cage." During his time in TNA, he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship twice, solidifying his status as a main event player.
Christian returned to WWE in 2009, eventually winning the ECW Championship and, most notably, the World Heavyweight Championship twice in 2011, culminating in an emotional victory that highlighted his resilience and popularity.
In 2021, Christian made a surprising debut in All Elite Wrestling under the moniker Christian Cage. He quickly made an impact, showcasing his veteran skills and competing at a high level against a new generation of talent.
